Middle School at SSES
The Middle School program at St. Stephen’s, covering grades 6 through 8, fosters curiosity, builds confidence, enhances problem-solving skills, and encourages a lifelong passion for learning within a supportive and challenging environment. The curriculum blends traditional learning with collaborative and innovative instruction, ensuring that students master essential skills while also being challenged to think critically and creatively. In addition to core academics, students have opportunities to participate in activities like the Glowforge program, Beta Club, archery competitions, and Middle School Camp. These extracurricular offerings provide avenues for academic growth and leadership development, preparing students for success in both academics and personal growth. Students participate in enriching extracurricular activities, such as the Austin Regional Science Fair and BETA competitions, which provide additional avenues for academic growth and leadership development. This comprehensive approach helps students develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need for success in future academic endeavors and personal growth.
ELECTIVES, FINE-ARTS, AND ATHLETICS
Middle school students at St. Stephen’s have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities that foster creativity, leadership, and personal growth. These include Maker’s Lab, Studio Art, Beta Club, Debate/Speech, Musical Theatre, Study Hall, Coding and Robotics, Archery, Sports, and more. These programs provide students with the chance to explore their interests, develop new skills, and engage in both academic and extracurricular pursuits, enriching their middle school experience and helping them grow as well-rounded individuals.
SERVICE & LEADERSHIP
At St. Stephen’s, middle school students are encouraged to find opportunities for service both on and off campus, reflecting on how acts of service can positively impact their lives and the broader community. The planning and organization of school service projects are closely tied to House Leadership, providing students with hands-on leadership experiences as they engage in meaningful community service. We are always looking for new ways to expand leadership opportunities, helping students develop essential skills in teamwork, organization, and social responsibility. These service initiatives play a vital role in fostering a strong sense of community and giving students the chance to make a positive difference.
